The guests were welcomed with a glass of champagne and were able to use the time for a little networking to exchange information about the latest developments and innovations in the industry.

At 7:30 p.m., the gates to the grand and glamorous ballroom of the Grand Hotel Vienna opened and a glamorous picture was presented to the guests. According to the occasion, the hall bathed in discreet candlelight with simple elegance. As the guests took their seats and it slowly calmed down, the tension increased.

Culinary delights
Everyone was looking forward to the performance of national radio presenter Olivia Peter, who led through the program in a charming and humorous way, while enjoying the appetizer (mixed leaf salads with goat cheese and figs) of the four-course gala dinner. This was followed by an asparagus cream soup from Austrian asparagus, perfectly tempered and with fine cream on top. Before the tension reached its climax and the winners were awarded, there was salmon trout with delicious fregola, delicate organic baby spinach and fresh chanterelles. The crowning culinary conclusion was a fruity strawberry yoghurt terrine with burnt white chocolate and strawberries. Green Veltliner, Chardonnay and Rheinriesling were served – fine wines from the winery Hintermayer.

Musical highlights

Also this year a great supporting artistic program was offered, the band "Gini & Fellas" provided entertainment. The outstanding musicians of the quartet (singer Gini Lampl, pianist Paul Temmel, drummer Michael Seyfried and bassist Clemens Gigacher) thrilled with a variety of demanding jazz standards and well-known hits.

Glamour and 41 nominations

At 8:30 p.m., the 41 nominees were able to present themselves to the audience and the celebrities, who thus gained a first impression of how innovative the various submissions were. In order to score at the European HEALTH & SPA AWARD, it is necessary to reach a minimum number of points – winners need at least 30 points. The eight evaluation criteria, such as health benefits, sustainability, cost-effectiveness, creativity, supply and service, play an important role. Corporate Social Responsibility, the measures for good working conditions for employees, is also important. The nominations were in the categories of best SPA manager, best SPA hotel, best thermal SPA, best day SPA, best medical SPA, best signature treatments as well as best technical and best cosmetic product innovation and this year new best spa innovation.

Spa Personality of the Year

This year, for the first time, a special personality from the industry was honored: Harald Kitz, who has often been awarded the European HEALTH & SPA AWARDs for his created haki concept. He himself celebrated his 15th anniversary with this work this year.

Celebrity guests

Prominent guests such as Martina und Dr. Werner Fasslabend BM a.D., Kathi Stumpf & Alexander Beza, Rosalinde Halle, Roswitha Wieland, Carmen Kreuzer, Kimberly Budinsky, Andy Lee Lang watched the award ceremony with excitement and great interest.

Excellent Jury

The evaluation was carried out by a jury of experts and mystery testers, among them experts, leaders and well-known persons from business and the media. Since 2013, the points awarded have also been supplemented by "Brilliants", which are awarded from a certain number of points. Companies can receive 1 to 4 Brilliants according to this system, the number of Brilliants reflects the quality achieved in a very vivid way.

The winners

At 10:30 p.m., the excitement reached its climax that evening: the winners were presented. The organizer of the event and head of the Agency for Health and Wellness, Norbert Hintermayer, summed up with the jury members Prof. Dr. Kai Illing and Judith Ertler and put together the jury evaluations in short eulogies. In original and humorous short interviews with Olivia Peter, the winners were given the opportunity to express their joy at the victory.

The trends in the health and wellness industry, which is in demand, were highlighted here in a glamorous evening and new standards were established.
