The European HEALTH & SPA AWARDs are to the Wellness and Health Industry, what the Academy Awards are for the Film Business. The only independent award for health and wellness that distinguishes Europe’s best companies for their outstanding performances. The ceremony took place on Wednesday evening June 20, 2018 at the Park Hyatt in Vienna. Different participants from the elegant Viennese city centre to the dreamlike Lake Garda to the spectacular coastal cliffs of Portugal – representatives of the most exciting, and innovative companies in Europe met for a magical evening.
The famous radio host Olivia Peter led the guests through this exciting evening with her charming and humorous way, which took place in the Grand Salon of the Park Hyatt Vienna – one of the best and most exquisite hotels in the city. With a classic champagne welcome, a wonderful evening began, which offered representatives of the best wellness institutions from all over Europe the opportunity to exchange and establish contacts. Accompanied by relaxing jazz sounds of the musicians the guests enjoyed a first class four-course menu – a meal proper to the luxurious number of participators. It contained curd cheese from goat milk with asparagus, porcini crumbs and meadow herbs. Then fried lake char with artichoke, spinach and nut butter Brandade. The guests were delighted with the grilled veal fillet and glazed veal cheek, port wine jus, piquillo salsa, Pimentos de Padron and potatoes. The dessert of yogurt Charlotte with raspberry, rhubarb in Champagne stock completed the gala dinner.
Musical Highlights
Of course, such a glamourous event should not lack an atmospheric musical framework program: The California born singer Lisa Nielsen (www.nielsenspieler.com), whose repertoire extends from the classical genre to modern jazz rhythms and the exceptional Eric Lary, who accompanied her breath-taking voice on his guitar made the evening extraordinary. Together they provided a magical and soulful music to the great enjoyment of all participators.
Shine, glamour and 40 nominations
At 20:30, it came to the first important act of the event – the 40 nominees were presented. To be able to score points at the European HEALTH & SPA AWARD, the companies had to be convincing in every way, in the area of health benefits is as important as sustainability, economic knowledge, creativity, supply and service. Corporate social responsibility, which includes measures for good conditions at work for the employees and is also an important criteria at this award. The nominations are granted in the categories of best spa manager, spa hotel, thermal resort, medical spa, day spa, wellness treatments, as well as best technical and best cosmetic product innovation.
Top-Class jury
The evaluation was carried out by a jury of experts and mystery-testers, among them specialists, leaders and well-known persons from business and media. Since 2013, additional to the awarded points, “Brilliants” were given to the companies also for better understanding and marketing. Depending on the company’s points “Brillants” from 1-4 can be achieved – they reflect the high quality performance.
The Winners
At 22:30, the slowly built up tension reached its climax: Olivia Peter presented the Winners of the 10th European HEALTH & SPA AWARDs. The organizer of the event and head of the Agency for Health & Wellness, Norbert Hintermayer, together with the jury chairman, Kai Illing, summed up the jury reviews in short laudations. In very originally and humorous short interviews with Olivia Peter, the winners were given the opportunity to express their joy on the victory.
The trophies of this year were shining also in a new design.
We – the Agency for Health & Wellness – are pleased that the event can take place in such a good way every year. Here, the trends in the health and wellness industry were shown in a glamorous way and new standards were established – another year with intensive preparations in the sense of caring and serving the guests and increasing the health benefits.
