37 nominees in total accomplished to be chosen for the European HEALTH & SPA AWARD this year. After a long term of hard work and pinpointing evaluation of all participants, the winners of this year’s competition have finally been announced at the gala event in luxuriant environment at the Palais Hansen Kempinski Vienna on September 15, 2016. The gala devoted to everyone, who received a nomination at this unique award. Organizer of the award and head of the Agency for Health & Wellness, Norbert Hintermayer, addressed the audience with a short opening speech: The 2016 prize-giving gala was not only the 8th time of the European HEALTH & SPA AWARD ever been held, but also a splendid ceremony for the 10-years-anniversary of trade magazine WELLNESS WORLD Business, which was founded in 2006. Special guest Franz Hartl, PhD, managing director of Austria’s Tourism Bank referred in his opening speech to the success of Wellness in hospitality business. The award ceremony was presented by ORF-presenter Olivia Peter, whose greatest charm helped to make the event a great success. Suitable background music was provided by the band “Paul Temmel Quartett”.
The event was implemented by the Agency for Health & Wellness with support from Wellness World Business.
The awards are the result of an independent jury and represent the toughest independent evaluation in Europe, because many submitters drop out of the strict procedure. An extensive questionnaire and a mystery check is based on the assessment. The evaluation is carried out on the basis of 8 criteria points (design & engineering, health, offers & service, economy, benefit, creativity, sustainability and social corporate responsibility (SCR)). The European HEALTH & SPA AWARD have been awarded in 9 different categories. Honored have been European wellness companies, spa manager, product innovations and treatments.
